As one of the United Arab Emirates (UAE)’s oldest and most prestigious universities, UOWD was established in 1993 as an English language centre by the University of Wollongong in Australia; it is currently ranked amongst the leading universities in the world. Originally known as the Institute for Australian Studies, UOWD is a vibrant, dynamic and diverse institution, and retains a strong Australian heritage. Over the past 23 years, UOWD has established an outstanding record for educating highly employable graduates and has gained an international reputation for the quality of its educational practices.

With more than 3,500 students from 108 nationalities being taught by academics from more than 50 countries, UOWD offers the best traditions of western education in a truly multicultural learning environment. Students can study one of nearly 60 programs from foundational courses to undergraduate and postgraduate degrees spanning 10 industry sectors, including engineering, business, IT, education studies, nursing, communications and media.

UOWD degrees are recognised within the UAE, in Gulf Cooperation Council Countries (GCC) and internationally for further education and employment in the private and public sectors. All degree programs are accredited by the Ministry of Education – Higher Education Affairs through the Commission for Academic Accreditation (CAA) and quality assured by UOW, which is registered with the Tertiary Education Quality and Standards Agency (TEQSA), the national regulator of the higher education sector in Australia.
