The English Language Barometer student survey is conducted approximately every two years in collaboration with i–graduate and English Australia. The survey provides valuable information about enrolment trends within Australia and globally, and covers areas including arrival, learning, living, support, recommendation, application and choice of institution.
In 2019/20, more than 16,000 students from 52 institutions participated in Australia including University English Language centres and standalone ELICOS providers. Globally, there were more than 20,000 participants from institutions in the US, Canada, New Zealand and the UK.
UOW College had 240 English Language students participate in March 2020, with a response rate of 93%. The student cohort consisted of more than 100 students from various Japanese university partners on short-term study tour programs, with the majority of the remaining students on a pathway to further studies at UOW or UOW College Academic Programs.
UOW College achieved outstanding results in the survey and ranked 1st in Australia for: Welcome/Pick Up; Accommodation Quality; Internet Access and Campus Buildings.
Additionally, the College ranked 1st in New South Wales in a further 11 areas, and ranked in the top ten in Australia in 22 different areas in total; the majority were in the areas of Arrival and Living Experience.
These results highlight the outstanding work undertaken by the College’s Study Tour and Homestay teams, including Activities Providers and host families, as well as English Language and support staff.
